The 2023 CR-V is being touted by Honda as a do-it-all SUV

The fifth generation of the Honda CR-V has been in continuous production for over six years and is feeling old compared to more modern rivals in the segment. With the arrival of the all-new seventh-generation CR-V for the 2023 model year, Honda has tried to raise the bar with a modern design language, a more luxurious cabin and a wide range of powertrain options, including hybrid engines.

Based on the data post on Wapcar.my, with an estimated base MSRP of $29,000 and with four trim configurations, the 2023 Honda CR-V will tick most of the boxes for family SUV buyers. It gets all the bells and whistles in terms of driver assistance as standard, and the infotainment is feature-rich. The interior is also quite spacious. Competing with the Mazda CX-50, Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson, here are 10 things to know before buying the 2023 Honda CR-V.

All The Driver-Assistance Techs Are Standard

Standard driver assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. Other features such as blind spot monitoring, driver attention monitoring and traffic sign recognition are also added in this 2023 model.

Along with these driver assistance features, all the usual safety features such as airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability control, tire pressure monitoring system and side view camera are on the car later. While the 2023 model year has yet to be tested by NHTSA and IIHS, the older generation is one of the safest compact SUVs on the market.

Four Trim-Levels Are Offered

With four trim profiles, there’s something for everyone. Along with that, all versions are also reasonably priced compared to the segment. Get the basic EX trim and you’re looking at an SUV that fits what you pay for and doesn’t lack any major interior, infotainment, and safety features.

Even the EX-L and Sport Hybrid trim levels are packed with amenities, making the CR-V a better value proposition than similarly priced Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4 versions. Still, it’s the top-spec Sport Touring Hybrid, which is said to be available for sale with an estimated price of $39,000, which makes the most sense if you need the most luxurious and feature-rich SUV on the market or school segment.

Stunning Design That Turns Heads

The exterior design has been improved, and this 2023 model looks more masculine and purposeful than the older generation. Seen from the front, you’ll be impressed by the slim design of the grille, elegant LED headlights with neatly integrated LED DRLs, and subtle silver accents on the lower bumper.

The long roofline and perfect exterior dimensions make it stand out. It also contributes to great cabin space. The side view features Honda’s signature styling with a flat black body, sleek alloy wheel design and chrome window sills that break the monotony. LED taillights and dual exhaust also add a premium element.

Gasoline Powertrain Is Reasonably Punchy

The interior design of this Honda CR-V 2023 has received a major update and looks like a car from the higher segment. Unlike the panoramic dashboard and faux wood accents that were present in the older sixth generation of the moniker, this seventh generation has a sharper design language that gives it a very mature look.

The black interior combined with red contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and armrests gives the cabin a sportier look than most competitors in its segment. Glossy black elements are minimal and the neatly integrated infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard provides a great overall interior experience.

More Standard Interior And Exterior Features

Even the base EX trim comes standard with most features. This includes a rich 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 6-speaker audio system, and a plethora of driver-assistance tech.

Get the top-spec Sport Touring hybrid trim, though, and you get an impressive hybrid powertrain under the front hood along with a long list of features, including LED headlights and taillights, a system Premium sound from the Bose lineup, 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels, AWD, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Get two infotainment systems, depending on trim

Base EX and EX-L versions get a smaller 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Despite the smaller screen size, it doesn’t lack any connectivity and entertainment features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, volume and control buttons, navigation and voice recognition. However, if you want Sport or Sport Touring, you get a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment offers all the features offered by the smaller unit. – Premium Bose speakerphone sound system with Sport Touring trim.

Warranty Coverage Isn’t Going To Wow Anyone

We expect this all-new generation to have a more impressive warranty coverage than the previous model. However, Honda has let us down with the same 3-year or 36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

The Honda CR-V 2023’s standard warranty coverage is similar to that of the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mazda CX-50, however, it comes with a 2-year or 24,000-mile free maintenance warranty. For comparison, the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson have the best warranties in their segment.
