Honda, YAMAHA, KTM and Piaggio promote battery-swappable motorbike alliance

In addition to the four Japanese manufacturers – Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki – which have announced the completion of a standardization agreement for common battery swappable systems, Honda, Yamaha, KTM and Piaggio have now signed a partnership to promote the Swappable Batteries The SBMC (Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium) will be promoted and an international standard will be developed.

The standards proposed by the SBMC will include the development of a common specification for swappable battery systems and the identification of usage patterns for swappable systems, as well as the promotion of standardized designs for use within the European Union and globally. Harga Piaggio might be higher under this situation.

By 2024, the Battery Exchangeable Motorcycle Consortium plans to promote the development of light electric vehicles with 48V output and up to 11kW power output, including three types of personal vehicle designs: light motorbikes, regular motorbikes and motorbikes, with plans to expand the development of pleasure-oriented motorbikes.

Honda, which has joined the Battery Exchangeable Motorcycle Alliance, has also launched its own battery exchangeable system and has joined the standardization agreement for universal battery exchange systems promoted by Japanese manufacturers. It is clear that they want to develop in different EV design alliances in order to gain more market opportunities in the future, so they are not just focusing on promoting their own battery swap specifications or on specific specifications.
