XCeed was unveiled

Kia has updated its XCeed small crossover with a new look, upgraded interior and a new level of trim. The new XCeed will be a member of the selling game in September. However, the price and specifications in the UK are yet to be confirmed.

The car retains the sloping roofline giving it a coupe-like appearance. It offers two options in terms of alloy wheels for people: an option of 16-inch or 18-inch. Inside, the XCeed offers a commanding  position and high ground clearance compared to a conventional hatchback. The “floating” touchscreen infotainment system stands out on the dashboard, offering screen sizes of 5.0 inches, 8.0 inches or 10.25 inches. while the lower part of the control panel offers a set of knobs, dials and tactile switches for controlling audio volume, heating and ventilation. These controls have been redesigned to improve interactivity and allow the driver to quickly change the cabin environment without taking their eyes off the road, according to Kia.

The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is also improved with new graphics, which can be linked to the vehicle’s driving mode. 

With an overall length of 4,395mm, the new Kia XCeed is 85mm longer than the five-door Ceed  hatchback and 120mm more compact than the Sportage. Its maximum roof height of 1,495mm also means it sits 48mm above the Ceed and 155mm below the Sportage, giving the driver a lower center of gravity than its sibling. 

Luggage capacity of the new Kia XCeed is rated at 426 liters (VDA) and with the rear seats folded down, luggage capacity increases to 1,378 liters. The new Kia XCeed is available with  three turbocharged petrol engine options. The 1.0-liter T-GDi engine produces 120 horsepower, while the 1.5-liter T-GDi four-cylinder makes 160 horsepower. The 1.6-liter T-GDi engine, found in GT models, makes 204 horsepower. There is also a diesel powertrain with 136PS. 

All engines are now equipped with mild hybrid technology, which reduces emissions by up to 10%.  The XCeed features the brand’s Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), which is fully electronic and works with a Light Mixed Starter Generator (MHSG) to shut down the engine when the vehicle is stopped. The plug-in hybrid powertrain provides the lowest CO2 emissions. The car uses a 1.6-liter gasoline engine and an 8.9 kWh battery. Zero emission range up to 30 miles.  

The new XCeed’s handling and handling characteristics have been developed by Kia’s European engineering team for “optimal comfort and interaction in all conditions”.
