The 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel takes the popular off-road formula from the standard 1500 truck, but upgraded for the HD pickup size.
Ram car couldn’t have enough off-roaders in its truck lineup, so it added another off-road model in the form of a rugged version of the popular Rebel version. Expected to go on sale later this year with a starting price of $68,940, the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel will sit alongside a 2500 Power Wagon of the same size.
But of course, the sidewalk is just where you can expect to see the Ram 2500 Rebel. This massive steel section comes with plenty of off-road equipment from the factory, including a limited-slip rear differential with electronic locking, 20-inch wheels on 33-inch off-road tires, and a set of guards.Â
The latter is designed to protect the truck’s fuel and transfer tanks as well as your ego, lest you squirm in front of other four-wheelers on the road. If you find yourself in a tough spot, there’s a 12,000-pound winch available to attach to the truck’s front bumper.
The standard engine is a 6.4-liter V8 with 410 hp, but unlike the Power Wagon, the 2500 Rebel can also be ordered with the 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline. The diesel makes just 370 horsepower, but its 850 pound-feet of torque is much more than the V-8 gasoline engine, which is rated at just 429 pound-feet. Heavy trucks are best used for towing, and the Rebel 2500 can certainly tow a lot. The maximum towing capacity is 16,870 pounds and the truck’s payload is 3,140 pounds.
The interior can be fitted with bench seats or bucket seats in the front, but the three-compartment seats don’t give you access to the finest leather upholstery found only on bucket seats. An optional 12.0-inch digital gauge display can be reconfigured to display a dizzying number of menus, all intended to give the driver a personalized view of all relevant information. most important to the task at hand, whether it’s pulling carts, pulling stumps, running on trails, or crawling on rocks.
Look for the Rebel 2500 at dealers where it will fit Ram’s other off-road models, including the 2500 Power Wagon, 1500 TRX, and 1500 Rebel, in Q4 2022. Look out for it on the trails close by. you – where it might not fit its size – right after.
