RUNNING INSPIRED Giveaway!
I was given the chance to read a book, The Ultimate Beginner’s Running Guide: The Key To Running Inspired by the book’s author, Ryan Robert. Since I have completed some half-marathons and will be completing my first full marathon in October, I jumped at the chance to read & review the book.
I received an electronic version of this book and read it on my iPad. I took it to the gym with me yesterday as I was cross-training on the elliptical. I nearly finished the whole book in the time I was there, just over an hour, but finished it completely once I got home.
This book has so many great features and a lot of important information for anyone who runs…not just the beginner. It discusses the health benefits of running, running form & mechanics, proper footwear, how to warm up and cool down your muscles, dealing with “running confidence”, motivation to start running and to keep running, ways to push your running to the next level, how to properly fuel your body with the right nutrition, information on common injuries and how to deal with them, ways to keep “Running Inspired” and to stay determined, as well as providing training schedules for anyone from the non-exercisers to the more experienced runners. It’s all very succinct information, which is why I was able to read it in under 2 hours. No fluff. Right to the point and right to what we all need to know!
I really enjoyed this book and learned things about running that I didn’t know. I am no running expert so to be able to learn from one and to have this book as a reference whenever I need it is great. For me, the book is helpful because it outlines how to improve your running performance gradually and how to avoid injury (or how to deal with an injury if you get one) which is what I really needed. I can sometimes jump too quickly into my training and that is why I got shin splints last year.
The book also has visualization exercises designed to help you complete your first run (if you are a beginner), stay strong, and stay determined. I think an especially unique aspect of this book was the discussion of embarrassment while running, having confidence, and staying motivated. I truly think it would be beneficial for a lot of people to check out!
There are so many valuable lessons and pieces of information in here that I can’t share with you, but luckily the book’s author has graciously offered FIVE BBF readers to win an electronic copy of his book! (This can be read on your computer even if you don’t have a Kindle or other electronic reading device.)
I really think this book can be super helpful for so many of my readers who email or comment with questions about running, training, and nutrition!

I love running and reading. I always am excited to learn more – I feel like I am still a beginner most of the time
I tweeted your giveaway!
I would benefit from this book because I have been very lacking in my running lately, and it may be just the thing to motivate me to get back to where I used to be!
I’ve been looking for a good book to read as I dive into ‘becoming a runner’. Having run in high school to stay fit for volleyball, I keep wanting to dive back into actively running. And as crazy as it sounds…running (and doing it efficiently) makes me nervous. I’d love to read up on it and dive in!!
I would love a copy! I’m defintely a beginning runner who has a hard time getting into the groove, I can use all the advice I can get!!
I just finished my first marathon this past fall and plan to start training for another one. I would love to learn more about how I can improve my running.
Can always learn more about running! I just signed up for my second half marathon and would love to read about how I can improve my form and get some extra motivation!
Does the book talk about learning how to breathe correctly while running? That’s one of my biggest problems with trying to increase my mile times.
I’m always looking to find other ways to train mentally and physically, this book sounds right up my alley!
This book sounds awesome – running is one thing I struggle with but want to get better at. Sounds like this book would help!
I’m training for my first half marathon and I think the information in this book would be very valuable to the experience.
I would love to read this book! Staying motivated is hard for me. I’ve ran a few half marathons and they were HARD, and after every one I have completely stopped running and then completely stopped working out all together for a few months. So I’d love to read something like this!
As the queen of excuse making I could always use a little extra motivation!
I am a newish runner and I am always looking for more information and how to get better without burning out. It seems that I never improve where everyone else seems to get faster and go farther. Awesome book!
I’ve been running for a few years but have seem to have a few reasons to ease up on the running (ie: pregnancy, going back to work after baby). So I feel like I’m starting over often. It always great to read new books especially about running – I could always use some tips!
I also tweeted about your post @PipersRun.
Cheers.
I would benefit from the running book because i “hit the wall” of my weight loss and need some extra motivation to get back into running more.. Plus training for my first half marathon in May, i want to be more knowledgable with fueling!
I JUST signed up yesterday for my first half marathon on April 28th. This book can help me push harder, especially to train the right way. Pick me please
I tweeted the giveaway
@runaroundaroo
I NEED this book because after finishing my first marathon in January running 1:1 intervals and with a hurt hip I could use a little motivation to get back running again!
I love running but I seem to be in somewhat of a rut. I’d love to learn some new ideas!
I used to run but recently I haven’t been able to find the motivation.
I struggle with properly fueling my runs! I think that I could run a lot faster/longer if I don’t try to run on an empty stomach all the time! This is why it would help!
I’ve been a runner my entire life, but you can never be too knowledgeable or informed! This would be a great book to have around as reference, and learn new things about running! Thanks for giving us the chance to win it! Based on your review, I’ll probably buy it even if I don’t win!
I love running, I am also signed up for my first marathon in June and right now as I am just beginning training I want to learn as much as I possibly can to get the most out or my training, to avoid injury and to become a better runner.
I also love reading and just finished my last book, so I’m looking for something new!:)
I hate running. I wish I didn’t but I do. I get so bored with it…. I would love to run long distances with friends but just cannot force myself to do it. Maybe this is just what I need to beef up my endurance/love for running!
Plus, after my surgery I am hoping to feel more up to running long distances!
I tweeted!
I have for years struggled with shin splints and this past December found out they had turned to stress fractures and I wouldn’t be able to compete in my first marathon that I was signe up for. I am always researching things online, buying new compression socks, shin protectors etc to try and prevent them. I would love to read this book and see what advice they have to prevent injury.
I tweeted about the giveaway!
AHH would LOVE this!! i love love love running, obviously

The Kidless Kronicles
i would benefit from this book because i have NO cardiovascular endurance and running for more than 2 miles KILLS me (i want to do a 5k mud run soon and i’m fearful i might die in the trenches!). Also, i would like to know how to properly fuel myself for running.
I just started running long distance last fall and fell in love. Lately ive lacked a bit of motivation so I think this would be a great push!
I’m training for my first half marathon that’s in 4 weeks and a handful of other races afterwards! I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with running because of previous injuries and I want to know the best ways to stay injury free
I would love this book since I’m a new runner and trying to use running as a stress release and a way to get fit
I am a running addict. I ran in h.s. and for my college xc team. I know how to run, but I know I can be so much better if I knew “tricks and tips” to be stronger, faster and more confident runner. Hope I win the book!!:)
I would love to read this book! I am a senior collegiate athlete in a non-endurance sport (diving!) and I know I will need a new challenge when our season ends in two weeks. I am going to give running a try, but I’m nervous and a little direction would be so helpful!
I just started training for a 10K and previously did not think running was for me but am so far loving it!..so I would love to learn more!
I could really use this book, as I am getting ready to run my first half-marathon in a few months. It sounds like a great resource to rely on while training. Thanks!
Thought i’ve been a runner for a while, I’ve come to a bit of a plateau in my running life. I think this book would give me that extra oomf i need to get back in the game!

I have run on my own for about two years now and have run a few 5ks….I took time off from the sport and am just building back my endurance. This book would be a great motivator for me as I hope to run the Nashville half next year!!

I’m trying to start running and finding it incredibly hard — this book would help me so much!
Hi Bess! I’m a fellow Tone It Up! girl and one of your followers on Twitter. While I’ve been eating healthy and exercising for a while now, one of my biggest goals for this year is to become a runner. I became inspired to do this by my brother, who is currently training to run his first full marathon. Each year I participate in a 5K to benefit United Cerebral Palsy, but I have only ever walked it. I would love to be able to run it this year. I’ve been looking for advice, and a program to follow to help me do this-I really want to make sure I do things the right way so I don’t injure myself or get hurt. This book seems like it would be really helpful for me. I would love to be one of the winners!
I would benefit from reading this book, for sure, because there are times I find myself in running ruts… and I definitely need to improve my technique.
As a beginning runner I could REALLY use this book. I dream of the confidence to soon do my first 5k (I know, small feat compared to your awesomeness
and it sounds like this book could really give me some great help!
I love running and I would love to benefit from reading this book!
The book sounds awesome! I’m especially interested in reading about running nutrition (something I’ve neglected too long) and beginning runner advice as I’ve been asked to design some beginner running training plans for a local race and to coach some beginner running groups! Any advice to pass on would be good!
Totally hate running but love it at the same time!!ike after I’m all done!! Would love to read this and learn motivational techniques and how to come back from injuries!
I would REALLY benefit from reading this book because I am frequently injured because I do not warm up and cool down properly or do a good job of letting my body repair when it shows early signs of a potential injury. I would love to win! Thanks for hosting the giveaway
I would love this book because I’m training for my first half marathon! It’ll be a doozey
Hi Bess,
I’m a fellow blogger (youngwomanchronicles.wordpress.com) and I am currently working really hard at losing weight. One of my main goals in this weight loss journey is to start running. I have always wanted to be a runner. Even when I was thin in my youth. I have finally started incorporating jogging into my exercise routine. As I have never really been an athlete, having a guide would be incredibly useful. I want this to become a lifelong activity for me.
Please pick me!
M.
I’m an avid runner and learning about new techniques and mental stamina is so important!
This book sounds amazing. I’m a beginner runner (in my second month of really considering myself a “runner”) and think this would really help me move to the next level.
I need to feel inspired now. Fell off the wagon, and need to get back on.
I always love an inspiring read with tips to be a better runner!
I’m in desperate need of this book! I’ve recently fallen off the running wagon and need some motivation to get back on it! I think this book would do the trick!
I would love this book! I have been running for almond 2 years now, but I haven’t progressed as much in the last few months as when I first started and am in need of some new ideas!

i started running in september so i really think i could use this book!
I want to start running outdoor races, so it would definitely be helpful!
I just started running last May and I know I have a lot to learn. I think this book could be a big help to me!
I would benefit from this book because I am still somewhat new to running and have a lot to learn! Plus I’m a total book worm
I’ve ran 1/2a and a full but I never really “studied” running per se. I have a lot to learn really.
I am a beginner runner and would love to learn more about it; this is a great giveaway for just that!
I’m getting ready to start training for my first half marathon, eeek! I could definitely use this book to help me prepare and to learn more about fueling properly, effective training plans, etc. Plus, I just love nutrition/fitness books! I’m such a health junky. (:
