Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars
January 26, 2012
It’s no secret. I have quite the sweet tooth. Cookies. Brownies. Ooey gooey chocolate.
On the flip side, I also love eating healthy. It makes me feel good and it’s what my body deserves so I try to find that nice balance.
Ideally, I’d like to have the best of both worlds. So….
I made these.
I’d like to introduce…the best of both worlds. In bar form. Nice to meet you!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Splenda Brown Sugar Blend
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 shake sea salt
- 1.5 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I’m sure any milk would do)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Stir peanut butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Add in baking soda, salt, flour, and protein powder and combine all. The mix will be dry.
- Stir in almond milk and applesauce to form a dough.
- Add dark chocolate chips
- Put dough in a lightly greased 8×8 baking pan
- Bake for 10-12 minutes
- Let cool (or don’t…I’m never very good at that step) and Enjoy!
These are lightly peanut buttery flavored, slightly dense and slightly cake-like, and totally good.
Oh, and don’t forget the ooey gooey chocolate.
*Notes:
-If you don’t like applesauce I think it would be fine without it…it would be less cake-like.
-this dough is fine to be eaten before you cook it…no raw eggs

Ohhhhhh my god those look heavenly. I’m usually terrible at controlling my portions with any kind of baked goods but I think I’ll definitely have to try these!
Bess, those look fantastic!!!
Okay, I know you have been working really hard with Tone it Up eating and exercising lately, I am so impressed. Have you seen progress in body? You look incredible!!!!
thank you so much! Yea I lost about 6 pounds that first week on the 7 day slim down and kept about 4 of it off, and I think it was all water weight but the way TIU promotes eating, it helps keep bloat off for good. So I just feel more toned! Haha, no pun intended but tone it up really does tone you up. lol.
These look really tasty! I find when I make healthy baked goods I end up eating more because I justify that they are healthy. These look like they are a good size and are full of protein so that might help get that full feeling.
YOU. COMPLETE. ME.
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
hahahaha
These look like a great treat! YUM!
oh my goodness…YUM i want to make them right now!
These sound awesome! I totes need to buy some protein powder- I’ve been meaning to pick up a jar for a while now but I have no clue what brand to buy… I tried a single packet of one a while ago and it was awful and I spit it all out :-Z
I like the Pure Protein brand…vanilla cream flavor
Those look great! I will have to give them a try. I love making my own protein bars.
Ohh they look moist. I always keep homemade protein bars in the freezer and I’m almost out. Thanks!
Made these last night, Bess – Phil likes them!
Yay!! I finally got Mike to try them too and he liked them! (not sure why he is always so surprised when he likes things I make, lol)
