May Abs Challenge Day 2

May 4, 2011

Back for day 2 of the M.A.C.!

Today’s move:

Side Plank Hip Drop

To do this move, get into a side plank with your feet stacked one on top of the other (I recommend doing it with shoes even though I did it barefoot).  Hold the plank at the top of the move for 5 seconds, then lower your hip down and back up for a 2 count (1 second down, 1 second up) and then hold at the top for 5 seconds again.  That is 1 rep.  Do that 25 times on one side, then 25 on the other side.  Do a total 3 times through, so each side you will do 75 side plank hip drops.

Again, you can break this up so you aren’t doing all 150 at the same time.  Just get in a set here or there when you can or take a little rest if you need to!  You’ll def feel the burn…and shape your waistline!  These work your whole core and do extra work for your obliques.

Step 1 at the top of the plank, hold for 5 seconds

Step 2...lower your hip but keep it just above touching the floor so your core muscles are still engaged and working

Step 3...raise the hip back up to the top of the move and hold for 5 seconds before lowering again

Let me also say that the saying “abs are made in the kitchen” is definitely true!  Don’t expect to bust your butt doing these moves and then not eat well and expect a change…because that just won’t happen!  You will see the best results if you eat clean foods and stay away from the processed stuff as much as possible.

Okay…have a happy hump day!

I’m dumb for trying to do these moves in jeans because I was too lazy to change. I had a baby 6 months ago and I am hoping to get my abs back in shape. Thanks for this leading this challenge! It’s tough. :)
